IMO, depending on the roast level and bean origin, this is just normal. It happens with me with Kenyan beans. The naked portafilter extraction looks horrendous, but, in the cup, it’s fantastic. A topic of many conversations with @HVL87!
My advice to you is… don’t judge a book by its cover. (Replace terms accordingly). If it tastes good, happy days.
Also don’t forget your machine can only operate within a certain range of parameters. While you can do wonders with temperature, there isn’t a lot you can do with the pre-infusion pressure or extraction profile pressure.
You could try without pre-infusion, or retard the lever in order to decline the pressure and see how it goes.
