Have to say, after not logging in for a few months and then catching up, this new version and options sound amazing. Also the smaller steam wand. Lottery win territory for me though, priorities elsewhere🙁

Grahamg I am probably odd (!) but I have one of the first production models, and the fact that the first orders were at a most attractive price, then Lockdown having spiralled costs, whilst I can see the tweaks as being desirable to new owners, I will not be upgrading…..but of course if I did not own one then I would happily have the new features

I actually just like the dosing system. Rotary pump makes no difference. In some ways I prefer the MK1 pump with it’s reassuring purr.

I don’t miss the pressure stat 🤬

I Would like the modified “paddle” as I’m currently starting the pump manually whilst pulling the lever.

My wife says the under chassis lighting doesn’t affect the taste in the cup but she still likes it!!

I’m assuming the new “paddle” will allow me to achieve the following simply by slowly pulling down the main lever only……? (This method always achieves 11 bars)

It sounds like a fantastic project to work on! It is very amazing how much creativity and attention to detail went into making such a high-quality lever machine. It’s revolutionary to have independent boilers and twin springs under PID control for complete temperature control. It’s also amazing that it may be used completely without any additional effort in about fifteen minutes. I’m eager to witness the change for myself and feel the smooth lever motion!

Evo Leva v1 owner here - I was curious if there were any firmware updates I should be aware of, and where I might find them? To be knowledge, my machine has never been updated, and I’m not sure if I’ve missed anything.

I do have a button for lighting on my touch panel, but no lights (I believe these were added starting with the Vostok) - is there any way I could add lights myself and wire them so that they can be actuated with the touch panel?

sourshots There is no firmware updates, they machines have essentially the same firmware.

You have the firmware and the lamp symbol on your touch panel, but you would need a small transformer for inside the machine and the skills to wire into the correct mainboard pins and mains power for the transformer.

Alternatively, you could add a small switch under the machine for turning the lights on/off, which would be easier.

I was wondering how people with wooden portafilter handles clean the metal part. I’ve got beautiful olive wood accents and really keen on keeping them this way. I soaked the chrome parts in water with cafiza but made sure to keep the wooden parts out of it. How do you guys go about?

Also, do you treat the wood with oil or something similar? TIA!

I wouldn’t recommend soaking the chrome parts in cafiza!

Simply use a bit of dish soap, if you want to clean the spouts a small soft brush to work around and inside them. The use of Cafiza, or Puly, should be an exception rather than the rule.

VERY easily. Mine are loose all the time, I’m considering using Loctite or something else to glue them, but maybe you’re onto someting, and it’s actually nice for cleaning if it’s easily removable.

On another note, is there a way to mess up installing a shower screen? I installed the IMS SML200IM today, and it kind of feels like the water is mostly bypassing it at the sides (sorry for the horrbile video):

No. Unnecessary and colour could leach in to the wood.

Molykote is less harsh and adds a bit of damping as well. Much kinder all round. Obviously only my opinion.

I like that they can Be easily removed but stay put until then.

rxmnt I can recommend loctite. Although I think you would need to reapply every time which seems a bit wasteful.

Apart from the issue in the video. Do you like te results the screen give you? Was thinking about buying one, but I’m not sure.

In this video, did you activate the flush lever or did you pull the lever? I think it will make a difference since the piston will be down and influence the water flow. But that’s just a thought. Maybe @DavecUK could shine a light on this matter?

I’ve put some red loctite on the threads. Seems to work fine although the high temperatures are outside the range of the loctite. But hadn’t thought of just unscrewing them.
