So for the water level i think connecting the two orange cables will solve it as this will indicate that the reservoir is full, or simply fill it to test the theory

NelisB The sensor is still in the tank. Don’t know what to do with it yet. I don’t have an overfilling issue.

Have you pumped in the machine as opposed to using the water tank?

We can see from one of your earlier posts that you will be using an external pump than the in-built pump in Evo. Your pumpless mod works thru (like a solenoid) valve?

Please correct if this understanding is not correct, because we will be adding this on the document as one of the mods with all relevant information and pictures. Thanks for your help.

LMSC The external system is called a “hydrophore”. You can look it up on the www. But you can also use the waterline with a filter and pressure regulator if your line pressure is sufficient (3 bar). The hydrophore has its own pstat/pump/pressure vessel/pressure regulator.

I don’t think you want this as a step by step mod in a manual. This mod is not for everyone who can put together an Ikea Billy. The info should be sufficient for people who have enough knowledge.

Maybe @Paolo_Cortese can chime in on this.

IIRC, it’s a standard M12 thread.

My (nice plastic) handle separates from the (solid) shaft fairly easily without requiring any tool besides a pair of hands. So much so that I’m considering adding a dab of threadlocker.

You don’t have to undo the handle, just unscrew the handle if you want to swap just the wood.

Cuprajake For medium light and light, I only keep the brew boiler at 98C / 99C max. I vary the group temp at 93C/94C. It is very rare I had it at 95C for the group.

I think the grinder makes a big difference to the notes. The fruity notes on my grinder become far too stronger if I were to keep the temps at 93/102 or 94/102. You guys have 83mm burr set. Please experiment with the range.

NelisB , I often heard a resonance when the pump was working. I thought the resonance was from the pump. But now the machine is pumpless, I still get the resonance when I pull down the lever and water flows through the system. It seems to come from the manifold. Does anyone know how to get rid of it?

Yup, it does….since Paolo has been experimenting with a quietr pump of a completely different type I suggested, he can hear this resonance from the water distributor. I think it’s “reeding” (like a clarinet) from the one way valve.

The one way valves have a spring which holds them closed and when the pump starts, it pushes them open…I think these might be the cause of noise. It might be that a different tension spring will stop it, dunno, under investigation and may not be stoppable.

Is this a mistake during compilation of data or is this the way most set up the machine?

Please remember, the grinder would make a difference.

It’s not a mistake. That was Denis’s feedback and recommendations based on his experience with Evo. If my memory serves right, I believe he also used Niche later and the temps for the light / medium light were closer to systemic’s.

So, please experiment and go from there. Thx

Thanks for that info. I should receive my Evo tomorrow so am wondering where to start. I will be using a DF64 with TIn burrs to start then may try SSP HU. Do you have any recommendations for Dark and Med, Med light to start with using a DF64? Not sure what grinder you use apologies.

BBritton I only have a manual grinder - JX pro. My settings are probably not relevant to you.

If I were you, I would use systemic’s for light and medium light; and. 92/100 from medium upwards. Based on your taste, you can even drop the 8C difference to 5C-6C.

As a starting point, you don’t lose anything by sticking to the current temperature profile of your machine and adjust only the group head temperature!

You will love your Evo for sure! She offers a lot of possibilities. It will be some time to get used to the machine. So, please take your time.
