La Estrella natural gesha - courtesy of Colombian-Spirit. Got 5 kilos in January (ordered in November and it took 2 months to arrive) - after tasting it I had to order another 5 kilos and along with the Kenyan Kemangau Estate it is my favourite cup of the year so far. A long rest is required though - minimum of a week and gets even better into week 2.
Beans I had this morning have been resting for over 2 weeks. 17grams in the Aeropress, 1 minute 30 seconds brew time. Need to keep your brew time lower on this one, it is very much an acidic driven cup. A complex cup - opens up with lemon/lime on the sides of your tongue, jasmine and floral notes, then honey sweetness, cranberry, fruit and dark chocolate. Very long finish which is my favourite part of the cup - the notes linger for ages. Probably the most intense gesha I have tried - after tasting many different geshas over a year, I have found them to be quite delicate and subtle…not this one!
Kudos to the company Colombian-Spirit as well. They had some serious shipping issues last year and their packaging left a lot to be desired. They are now using ecotact bags for their greens - the brown paper bags they were using before would split in shipping, causing some of the greens to end up in the shipping box. Shipping issues seems to have been resolved - got this 5kg bag in a week so very happy with the changes they have made. Overall a much better customer experience.
