Doram Maybe… we purge 6-7 grams once a day in the morning, and that’s more out of superstition than anything else (I do it, my wife doesn’t, and often she has the first cup in the morning and doesn’t complain).
For the rest of the day, a typical schedule is 2 × 7-8 am, 1 × 1 pm, 1 × 4-5 pm, 1 × 8-9 pm, so the longest ground beans sit there is 5 hours (other than long-term exchange, which is unpredictable but limited - I cleaned the grinder the other day after 6 weeks or so, and got ~3 grams of residues removing burrs and everything else I could remove; the lower carrier remains stubbornly unremoveable). I suspect some people would find this unacceptably stale.
I’m not saying this out of any sense of pride in my high “bad coffee pain threshold”… just noting that what some seem to find perfectly fine, others will reject as horrific (one other example is music reproduction: I’m not a bat-eared audiophile, but much stuff I find unlistenable to because of the recording/uploading quality, including pieces composed/interpreted by supposedly great artists).
