DavecUK Soecification? It was Walnut and White. No it doesn’t have the safety lever. With a blink basket and the solenoid release - it kicks back very hard. You need to have a had on it to guide it down.

OldGregg I know that you cannot do this, but I would love to see a Vostok one group next to an Evo just to get a comparison on size. I take my hat off to you for taking on a machine that lets you ‘play’ in the way that it can. My memory is so bad, if I made noted I would lose the paper I wrote them down on!

Looks stunning by the way! I had one of the very first Evo’s released and am glad that I have the ‘basic’ one!

Group pressure always reads a bar higher than the digital monometer. Ill take a video from the front on.

The basket design, or the hole placement, really seems to force the water around the outside. Defiantly getting channeling. Shots still taste much better. Going to start experimenting with lighter roasts given the temp stability the machine provides.

In terms of the basket the ims comp are very good

The doughnut shot I wouldn’t worry about, it looks bad but it’s no indication of extraction,

There was some channeling, spraying on the other shot but a bottom paper would stop that , but it’s not the end of the world just ugly.

And as far as extraction - I’m just noticing the pucks all have a clear pattern on them when they are knocked out / whats left behind is getting pressed into the side wall. The coffee I have on hand really has no nuance so not tasting any defects, but kind of a poor litmus test. I was coming off a Breville which just never had the temp stability to do anything lighter than a medium.

Assuming it’s the same as with the EVO Leva, I’ve found that lowering the service boiler temperature to 127°C is a good compromise when steaming small quantities of milk… a few degrees make a big difference in terms of steam pressure.

The service (steam) boiler is 2.3 litres and there’s no volume taken up by a 180ml HX, as it’s a twin boiler design. This is larger than pretty much all prosumer machines out there, so 127C is ample for steaming power, you should never require 130C.

I agree it is a spectacular machine…pretty much stands on it’s own as one of the most advanced prosumer levers out there!
