For sure, definitely the best forum!
I don’t just see the above here, I think it’s the nature of people getting into coffee and asking for advice, you have to start somewhere.
I can just see how it’s massively overwhelming for someone new when it’s like:
’Buy this grinder, buy this machine, buy a WDT tool a small spray bottle a spring-loaded tamper but don’t worry about a distribution tool as this research paper says they don’t work. Now read this about water and add this many mg of this to your tank but not too little as it will scale and not too much as there’s such a thing as ‘too pure’ water. Now grind exactly 19.15g of coffee and extract 38.3g of coffee, if you go 0.1g over then pour it down the sink without tasting it. Oh but your grinder was set on 5 and not 6 so you need to do it again. Ok so it took 29 seconds, perfect, but it didn’t blonde soon enough so better bin that one too, don’t bother tasting it it’ll probably be too sour. Ah hang on your boiler needs to be exactly this temperature, change that first and then repeat from step one.
Now get that bottomless portafilter and aim for the perfect extraction, if you get the slightest sign of channelling, down the sink it goes.
You’ve done all that, ok now, how does it taste?.
It’s no wonder people struggle 🤣
