TBH this is the first I have heard of the Zero… so currently reading the 40 page thread at the other place. Being in hard water Kent - it could be a useful solution to go with the water softener!

@"MattH"#p37622 I recommended osmio to a friend of mine who lives in Swanscombe their tap water is pretty hard, filters last him 5-6months, I think he can get another month or two with resetting the unit but I told him to try hard water filters next time, they are £5 or so more expensive but might last longer. They are really happy with osmio. We live in a medium hard water area and our filters last more than a year. We are also really happy with it, been 2.5 years. Only time we needed kettle was to fill a hot water bottle:)

@"Inspector"#p37637 Top tip If he **empties** and refills the Osmio when there is about 1.5 to 2 litres left instead of letting it completely run down before **emptying** and then refilling…his filters will last much much longer! I have suggested to mark they have 2 small extension tube options made for the particulate filter in the tank for very hard water areas…say a 1.5 and a 2 litre

Ok I am in for one if this goes ahead…. White or black now is the decision to make :) I think sorting my water is more important than which Machine to buy at the moment.

Please note, that if you live in a hard water area its important to descale these approx every 3 months. The white finish is more durable than the black if that helps

If it helps, I'm in a hard water area and mine has been running nearly 12 months with the hard water filter and doing great. We use it for daily drinking water, filling the Minima and occasional hot drinks, filling the tank probably twice a day at a minimum. For the price it's a great deal with sanitisation kit too (which I should probably get on its own). @"OsmioWater"#43 - Mark, any chance of a deal on some filters as mine will probably need doing in the next month or two 😁

caffeinated-carp and the maintenance is quite literally the 4 filters isn’t it? Plus I think they advise the sterilisation every time you change filters.

Maintenance is a bit more involved than that. Osmio recommend that you change the filters every 6 months (sanitary reasons).

Yes it is recommended that you sanitise the machine when you change the filters. It is also recommended http you descale the machine at the same time.

You may need to descale more frequently if you live in a hard water area (but you can put the same filters back in) There is plenty of info on the osmio website, have a read and watch the video’s

caffeinated-carp I live in Kent the home of hard water it seems - so I already have a whole house salt tablet water softener - so I feed the ozmio with that and it strips the added Sodium and anything else left - so it should not be working as hard as if I feed it unsoftened.

MattH Yes that is the way to to it. Filters will last longer if fed with softened water. However the recommendation for change pf filters is still 6 months.

Osmio filters can last a long time… mine are nearly 2 years old and work just fine (based on TDS, and occasional KH/GH testing) although I admit I’m using my coffee machine and the Osmio sparingly (2 espressos based drinks a day on average, flushing a cup of water from the boiler each morning to warm my latte cup).

On the filter it actually states 1 year…which is for the biological side.
