Hi all. I use a Zero Water Pitcher for my espresso water, to which I add sodium bicarbonate, using @Rob1 s suggested water recipe. Unfortunately I have not tracked the quantity of water run through it. As I only use it for espresso water (espresso shots plus machine flushing), the quantity run through it is not substantial. However I have been using it for 3 to 4 months. The TDS reading just reached 8 on one TDS meter (the one that came with the pitcher) and 12 on another, compared to 4 but 2 weeks ago. Zero says to change the filter at 6 TDS, so I guess that it’s time.

If you use a pitcher, what metric do you use to determine when to change it?

PS

As I do not use alot of water, a full or partially full pitcher can sit on the counter for a couple or few days. I have not been emptying and refilling the pitcher for each use, unless I need to add water. I use the water that is there? Should I?

And … should I keep it in the refrigerator?

Additionally what do you do when you are away for a couple or few weeks? Do you replace the filter upon your return?

I found the filter starts to go pretty quickly after it hits 6 TDS on the reader. It’s say you’re ready to change it now.

I would typically get 35 litres or so out of a filter, but this was with London water which is about as dirty as it gets

    Thanks Dutchy.

I added a PS to my post. Any thoughts? See below.

      Thanks MediumRoastSteam, Dutchy101 and all.

The TDS sure accelerated quickly after 6.

Change at earlier of 6 TDS or 3 months seems to be about right.
