Ernie1 Question for people in this thread, specifically vinyl, what are you guys typically listening to?
I haven’t bought vinyl in years, but am still listening to stuff I bought typically when it came out …. some in the 60s, like early Beatles albums.
I’m careful, though. I ONLY use vinyl when I’m going to sit back and really listen. Then, well, there’s still something about the sound …. can’t quite put my finger on it. The rest of the time, if it’s background music, I had (and stil have) most of my LP collection on C90 cassettes, then did much of it again on Minidisc (still got thsoe, too), not least becase I had a Minidisc aotochanger in the car. Now, I’ve been through them a third (and final) time, digitising them, cleaning the recordings up (hence Vinyl Studio software, and sometimes, Audacity, and in the past, CoolEdit Pro) so for more casual use, I don’t put any wear and tear on the vinyl.
As for musical taste a bit eclectic really, from Dave Clark 5 to Debussy, from a Bach Cantata to Bruce Springsteen, from Segovia on Spanish Guitar to Chet Atkins and Mark Knopfler together on Neck and Neck …. though not all on vinyl. It could be Al Stewart or Horslips, Planxty or Queen. And so on. Not much jazz, though a smidge here and there, and not much country but again, a dash or two. And almost nothing modern.
