DavecUK re always a smaller diameter than Mazzer burrs
I’m beginning to understand why the diameter is important and also to appreciate the accuracy of one of your ealiest posts on the Duo where you wrote something to the effect that the Duo is built around the dimensions of the burrs to a point of precision whereby other burrs may not fit.
I successfully shimmed the DF DLC burrs in the Duo and like the Ceado Opal Glide, they were working well.
After 7 grinds I took the burrs out to check on retained grounds and there was a lot. I put this down to the diameter of the DF DLC burrs being smaller by 0.79mm, allowing grounds to fill the gap between the burr carrier and the burrs’ outer edges, as well as underneath the burrs. (Or are the retained grounds more likely finding their way underneath the grinder via any difference in the inner diameter?)
Another challenge to figure out.
Maybe a spacer or sleeve or “vertical shim” measuring 8.5mm high and 0.79mm thick?
Its probably going to be much easier to simply buy a DF83V and see if the thinner, narrower burrs fit that better.
