Interesting solution to static, the theory behind it seems simple enough, but a good grinder shouldn’t really need it? Might be a simple thing to add onto future grinders and you could probably DIY this sort of thing for very cheap (albeit not as sleek as this) Thoughts? It will be sold for $150.

I remember using an ion “gun” (Zerostat, IIRC) about 40 yeas ago to de-stati my LPs to (hopefyully) attract less dust while playing. I was heartily sceptical but it was only about £5 (which meant more back then than nowadays, obviously) so, what the hell, try it.

My very subjective opinion was, it actually did seem to work. Not thatit was at all scientfically tested. But it worked. Holding one of my hairs near an untreated LP and it attraced the hair. Zap it and it ddn’t. Also, must less dust build up on stylus.

I guess this works the same way, but …. $150?

Wow. I’v not noticed enough static on the Niche (though some, for sure) to want to pay that. But I suppose, price wise, well …. Acaia. Say no more.

It’s the espresso accessories that always seem to be the category most vulnerable to the trend to be over priced to an inordinate degree.

The Ode 2 I just got has similar tech built-in to help with static. I’m not totally convinced on how it’s been implemented on the Ode but it does work well, to the point static is basically non-existent.

However, on all the grinders I’ve had I’ve only noticed static be an issue when grinding at brew levels of coarseness.
