tompoland Bear in mind my taste buds have been limited so far to predominantly my almond latte w/ my go-to med-dark beans (Dark Choc, Hazelnut, Blood Plum and Buttery body) for the last 9 months. An adv, in that I know when my coffee tastes different and a con, because I haven’t experienced many other flavours profiles.
But in my experience, I really did not enjoy how my almond latte was tasting with the Ultras - to the point I thought it tasted worse than my breville auto-tamp. If not acidic, but maybe best described as being too bright upfront? and too much of a crisp/clean ending. I could definitely see how an espresso lover could fall in love with them though. I ended up selling them and replaced them with the Hypernovas - which so far we’re Loving! They are producing the balanced profile that we’ve been longing for - our fave choc notes, along with the same complex, but more lingering flavour profile.
With your reply in mind, I’m extremely excited to be able to try the supernovas one day - when I’ve really been able to grow familiar to the hypernovas. Regardless of the result, like you said, the VS3 Gen2 w/ the ability to readily and affordably change burrs has meant such an enjoyable experience so far.
Thank you for all your VS3 content. Along with Josh, you both were the main reasons why I chose the VS3 above all.
