I have a Lelit Bottomless PF. I currently dose into my basket and dosing collar, which sits on a block of wood on my NZ. I then WDT and then place the basket into PF. I am thinking of dosing directly into the PF, to eliminate a step. What stand would work best?
I suppose I will need 2 stands: one for dosing on the Niche and one for holding the PF while I WDT and tamp.
Recommendations welcome.
JHCCoffee Niche as far as I know and have experienced, recommend grinding into the grinds cup. When I experimented last, I could never get as good a distribution when grinding direct into a pf. I never WDT, RDT or say prayers either! The Zero and the Duo are widely recognised as having amongst the best workflow in the business….why spoil it?
JHCCoffee I remember we had a chat about this a long while ago. I was in the same boat and wanted to skip the cup but there was nothing on the market that would work as stand in/out of niche, fit naked and spouted portafilters and allow me to use dosing ring on top etc.
After loads of trial and error I made my own wooden stand which sits on the niche and then easily comes out with the portafilter so can distribute and tamp. Paired it with wooden dosing ring from Etsy and it never returned to using the cup !

I use my hand and tilt/rotate for even distribution. It’s not exactly a long wait for the grind, and with my other hand, I can purge a steam wand or run hot water into a cup if I’m in a rush. Never understood the point of a stand that’s going to be used for a few seconds.
JHCCoffee - I’ve used the Decent stand for a while, but recently returned to using the cup as it’s a tidier workflow.

I use the Decent short portafilter stand. It’s perfect with a tall funnel and screws into the base of the Niche using the bolt in the base of the unit. John has just done a new iteration of the strand that allows you to centre the stand to allow the grounds to fall exactly into the centre of the PF, meaning you get a nice cone of grounds that can just be tapped to settle and then tamped.
