(First of all, my appologies for such a ‘cold header’ (“Hello”), I tried editing it or even deleting it but the system won’t allow me to do so. Just the body text. Maybe the moderator could do this?)

I have a problem with my MaraX. I’ve just arrived back home from a trip after been away for a couple of weeks. Before I left, I emptied the water tank, unplugged the machine and headed for my much needed holidays. Now, upon my return, I’ve noticed that the machine is not drawing water (I think…). I put the blind filter on and as you can see on the video, but the pressure gauges don’t move and there is no water coming out. I pull out the tank, check the “button” on the bottom to make sure that water is coming out and I notice that with the filter on there is barely any water coming out, but with the filter off there is. I draw steaming water from the machine after which the Marax should fill in more water and observe… That’s when I notice that there is not enough power or maybe something is clogged INSIDE the machine and NOT on the tank (this is my take, of course). Only steam comes out of the group. And this is because I think there is no water inside it. Now, why would this happen after a couple of weeks of not using it? I attach a few videos.

    id be taking the top off, check for a broken connector or an air lock, they have/had those plastic connectors that like to break,

    obs be careful, unplug from mains, and if you have to run with the lid off watch for electrics,

    Also run without the filter for now, if it is a priming problem, the filter makes it harder. A moist filter will grow some stuff if the environment is humid as they take a very long time to dry out. This could have clogged it. I would personally put a filter that still has some life in it, in the freezer while I was away.

    Water definitely doesn’t seem to be getting to the HX unit, or at least very little!

    Have you tried running the machine without the filter in the water tank? Does it change anything?

    (be aware that the filter and the tube isn’t necessary for the machine to run. If you use good water - you can safely remove it and use the machine without the filter loop).

    As it seems you have no pressure at all, I would start by removing the filter and running the pump for 30 seconds (without a portafilter) to see if you can get water to run to the group (if it’s not the filter, then maybe an airlock?).

    In one of the videos you can see that I run it without the filter, still to no avail. If it’s an air lock, how should I proceed?

      From the very first moment I switch on the machine, the pump goes off and tries to draw water. You can see on the video that the tubes are not getting any water at all. Any thoughts?

      Amazon is offering to take it back and refund it, since they are my reseller. If I don’t get it to work I might accept their offer.
