You know you're getting old when...

So we were watching the film Faithfully Yours on Netflix the other day. About 55 mins in there is a scene of a couple having sex in the kitchen. Out of focus in the background is a nice looking prosumer coffee setup, not like the usual rubbish setups seen in films. So during the whole scene, while they were humping against the kitchen wall, I am thinking “Just move your head to the side a little luv so I can get a better view of the coffee setup, and shift the focus to the background”.
Man, I must be getting old.
Reminds me of a story that I heard from one of the Earl’s Court motorbike shows. They had a scantily clad model draped over one of the bikes. People were complaining that one of her legs was spoiling the view of the carburettor.

I do that too! (and am not that old, lol). If there is a coffee machine on the screen, I stop seeing anything else.

(On the rare occasion that the actor actually uses the machine to make coffee, you immediately see that they never used a coffee machine before. :-))

I’m guilty of judging people on TV based on their coffee machine…

I especially like it when you see someone on Grand Designs who’s bragging about the £80,000 kitchen that they just ‘had’ to overspend on to fit it out with the latest ‘gadgets’ and you see some awful touchscreen bean-to-cup thing on the counter.

Sometimes it’s pleasantly surprising too, my other half had this Hollywood reality show on, they’re mincing about in the kitchen and out of nowhere there’s this guy with an E61 using a distribution tool and weighing out his doses.

I hear you. After 40 years of ownership I have decided to sell my two Vincents. Mainly because I find them so uncomfortable to ride and have difficulty getting off once I stop.
Only bike I will have left after owning over 30 bikes will be the CN250 in the background. I will keep it for the ‘Parker Knowl’ really comfortable riding position.
Man, I must be getting old.

Norvin Nice, Comet and a Rapide I believe. My old man used to own a motorcycle shop ion Fulham called Century Motorcycles in the late 40s and 50s, he had a Rapide in the window…I might have an old photo somewhere.

I am refreshing my Wes Cooley GS1000s and will see how I cope with riding it from a comfort point of view but, I fear that it and the Speed Triple will be sold for a Tiger or similar tourer.

I do not remember which season of Billions it was but one of the characters (he was in charge looking after SEC) had bought a shiny E61 machine and was bragging about what coffee-made-in-heaven he was able to pull out of it. I am not sure it got the attention it deserved most likely because the character was not the most positive of the crew.

Sorry, couldn’t resist! Beautiful bikes those Vincents. The closest I’ll ever get is my tee sweat with the H.R.D logo. First time I’ve heard a scooter described as Parker Knoll but you’re bang on with that haha!

Someone I knew years ago rode one of those…he was knee high to a grasshopper and lighter than Leicester Piggot. Makes me the that the bike went really well when he was riding it! In it’s day it was a quick bike, engines always sounded like the Suziki bag of bolts, but they were powerful and bulletproof.
