@"JHCCoffee"#p54227 I've got the filter portafilter/basket thingy but I haven't use it. Bear in mind I'm new to filter (a lot of help from @"LMSC"#16 and @"MediumRoastSteam"#51 thanks) so I'm the last one to offer any thoughts on it sorry. Still learning the filter/pourover craft.

I've not watched the video, but Filter 2.0 is what everyone uses in the Decent Discord. I'd highly recommend joining that server as it has a large amount of useful discussion.

I have the basket you speak of. It doesn’t do a great job. It’s ok but v60 is better. Furthermore filter 2.0 is better and ICBINF (I can’t believe it’s not filter) is worth a go too as per the previous post there’s plenty of support on the forums. I find the discord server the best for my needs.

I’m pretty sure that you’re not supposed to use the filter basket for the filter settings. Instead you use a conventional basket with a paper filter, 18g ground for filter and not tamped.

I think that links to an earlier iteration of Scotts testing. Since then Filter 2.0 basket and presets were created. But I could be wrong, wouldn’t be the first time.

The Filter 3.0 Basket is now available. I just ordered one with its paper filters, along with a Pour Over Basket and an $11 CDN Soft Shipping Bag (which will cover/protect the Decent Suitcase). The last item is effectively free, as adding it resulted in free shipping. If the taste of either is good, I love the idea of sometimes just filling the basket (or the V60) with coffee and letting the machine produce a tasty filter brew. V60s can be tasty, but sometimes I just don’t want to stand over a scale with kettle in hand, watching the timer and flowrate. Pushing the button and letting the machine do it all sounds great for some mornings. And I can fine tune the entire brew ratio, blooming, flow rate and time profile.

I’m definitely following the updated user guide and experience post that John placed on Basecamp - Diaspora (“Making Filter 3 Coffee”) and will post there (and here) once I receive mine and give it a go.

Since I can’t make V60 filter near anywhere as good as @MWJB or @LMSC can, I thought I’d give it Filter 3.0 a try. Will still continue to work on my V60 to see if I can meet these honoured gentleman’s standards.

Now if they could write a v60 how to guide that is as awesome as @tompoland ‘s espresso guide (just posted), I’d be an avid reader. I do need to refresh my memory on how to dial in v60, but that v60 thread is soooo long.

JHCCoffee I have the v2 but can’t get anything I like out of it as good as the filter coffee from Vario Switch.
