In this lengthy post, there was discussion of the Lelit Elizabeth’s OPV spiking pressure.
The conclusion was that the lelit part (MC931) had a batch of bad valves. I’d expect that by now this no longer is an issue, but I’m not sure.
I have a Lelit Anita, and this uses a different OPV (MC097).
Being new to coffee although I was aware my machine did something similar to that described in the Elizabeth thread, and it was something I couldn’t see as a good thing as it hits the puck with a lot of pressure early on, I assumed this was just how things were. Until I watched the videos in the Elizabeth thread.
Here is a short video of the behaviour of my machine. A blind filter is in the basket. Like the Elizabeth, the closer together one pulls the blank shots, the less the amount of over pressure.
I wasn’t sure if this was just how things were, but recalled watching a video from a lelit-associated you tube channel on how to adjust the OPV for my machine series. So, I went back to check it to see how the OPV behaved on that machine. Here it is.
As you can see, the behaviour of the pressure is quite different between the two machines.
My machine is a an Anita PL041TEMD. It’s a shade under two years old. I use it most days, for a couple of shots and associated milk steaming, and some afternoon espressos. I use filtered water, and have a lelit 70l filter in the tank.
Thoughts welcome.
