JHCCoffee For pour over, I generally pour v60. However I just acquired a Hario Switch and need a starting grind reference point. I have a Niche Zero and for the decaf I need to grind finer than caf coffee. My v60 grind setting is 55, vs espresso at 8. Any Hario Switch grind size suggestions? I know that the answer will be “it depends on the coffee and your taste”, but I need to start somewhere. Also need a starting point on percolation time, before I depress the lever. Frankly I do need a 101 course on using this. Not sure whether to pour like a v60 or just dump the water in.
MWJB I’d start around 75 on a Niche Zero. Hario Switch 02, 13.8g coffee. Preheat brewer, empty and close the valve again. Add coffee, pour 215g water in about 30s making sure to wet the grinds at start. 3 back & forth stirs at the surface at 4:00. Draw down at 5:00.
MWJB For reference ‘75’ equates to the left hand side of the left hand hinge, when looking at the grinder from the front (in case you have not installed a second grind indicator for filter.)
JHCCoffee Thanks @MWJB . Appreciated! Barely enough time to keep up, working on my Decent espresso, v60 and now Hario Switch brew recipes/profiles to improve taste.
