After a week, I have been soaking it in PulyCaf, and agitating the solution with the screen inside a plastic container so it’s thoroughly clean. This is the aftermath after an average of 2 coffees a day, after 1 week of usage. Inspired by your post, I tried this with mine. I clean the puck screen, the basket and the PF with a soapy washing pad after every shot, so didn’t get very dirty water after soaking the screen (but still a little dirty so we’ll worth doing).

Along with putting filtered water in it, the puck screen single handily maintains your espresso machine to being in optimal condition and clean the whole time.

The puck screen is truly underrated and should be essential I think with all new coffee machines sold from now on. IMO.

I used 2 puck screens, I used to leave them in the knock box and put them in dish washing machine in the end of day

now I increased to 4 shots/day, and I switched to paper filter. still looking for a good solution to punch the aeropress paper filter

Doesn’t it just move the dirt to another place, your shower screen stays clean but the puck screen now takes its place and gets dirty.

I tried also today, colour of water was like an ale lol

I clean it after every shot under hot water and wipe. Means that wasn’t enough.

I wash mine after each shot in soapy warm water. I also throw mine in a litre of Pulycaff solution with other bits each month

I remember watching a video where the person puts the shower screen into a tub with warm water and detergent, and then drop the puck screen in it. He then swirls and gives it a shake. And the water comes out brown. I’ve been doing exactly that every week or so.
