Generally speaking we drink typical med/dark coffees if they’re prepared black. Often a Brazilian blend of some kind with the usual chocolate/toasted nut flavour notes.
However, I discovered (and might be late to the party on this one) that with milk, some light roasts with berry flavours taste fantastic as a flat white. It almost tastes dessert-like, or like a cake. The milk cuts the acidity and sharpness of some lighter fruit notes and helps balance it with the actual coffee flavour. Sounds wild, but try it if you haven’t.
We’ve had a couple of great ones lately, an Ethiopian microlot from Skylark and another from Caravan I can’t remember the name of.
I thought I’d see if anyone has any recommendations for berry-like coffees that taste great with milk.
