James96 It really depends on what style of drink/bean you prefer. But here’s my thoughts on both. I’ve had the DF64 V2 for about 2 months now:
Niche
Pro’s:
- Easy to dial in, produces thick bodied shots
- work flow is straight forward, adjustments are smooth
- little retention, no real need for RDT
- Small, takes up little space on the worktop
- Very easy to clean/maintain
Con’s
- produces blended cups in my opinion. Fruit forward cups tend to get lost (hence why I moved to flats)
- Can’t hot start, have to place the beans in the hopper then turn on
DF64 v2
Pro’s:
- Clearer flavour separation (even with stock burrs)
- Really quick grinding
- the ionizer produces very little mess and no clumps
- build quality is good, the unit is very heavy and feels sturdy
Cons:
- Really noisy, loud humming without any beans and grinding produces high pitch unpleasant noise. I’ve bought a bar mat to place it on to combat the noise going through my worktop.
- my unit moves slightly when turned on, must be the big motor?
- The grind adjustment isn’t as smooth as the niche
- Seems to retain more grinds than the niche, nothing you can’t blow out or clean out
Feel free to ask me anything else that I didn’t cover above.
