I had a few minutes today, to have a play with my Caravel. I have always owned some of these. They are beautiful vintage machines. When the factory closed in the 70’s they broke the tooling and moulds, so there is a firm in Holland (Brooks Espresso) and of course Francesco in Italy who provide all seals and some spares. I had to film and pull the shot at the same time! I just left the grind setting on the same number as the Evo uses. I ground 12 gms which filled the basket nicely. My good pal @Norvin very kindly turned down a tamper for me and also gave me a dosing ring! So, 5 mins to heat up 750 mls of water plus 10 mins to let the machine warm up. I stick a thermo pen into the open boiler then switch the machine off. Prepare the shot then pull it. I could not get my scales to fir on but I reckon the output is around 1.25 or so. Two small sips of the sweetest espresso imaginable. Next time I play I will fine tune a bit further. The beans were Coffee Compass Brighton Lanes.
