I’m looking for a K-Type Thermocouple, for use with my FreshRoast SR800. The PerfectPrime TL1916SL probes are abit pricey, at $80 CDN ($55 USD) for a 4mm x 300mm probe. Conversely I am nervous about what I see on Amazon or Alibaba. If the Perfect Primes are substantially better and will ultimately result in better roasts or avoid poor ones, I’ll just shell out the money. Or is there an even better probe at the same price, I’ll buy it.
But if you have an as good/reliable suggestion, at a lower cost, I’m all ears. Thanks all.
PS. I’d like the probe to be an “at the tip” type probe , as distinct from a probe with multiple sensor points along the probe.
Fyi, I’m located in Canada and prefer to buy here, to keep shipping costs and duties down.
PPS
I looked at RTD type probes/sensors, due to their reliability. But I decided against one, due to their sensitivity and thereby the “noise” that they apparently produce. They also have slower response times. Should I have ruled an RTD out?
What do you use?
