So I’ve really taken to roasting on the Ikawa, and have been enjoying tweaking profiles and cupping the results. It’s a treat to be able to enjoy coffee I’ve ‘roasted’ myself - in the sense that’s 99% Ikawa and 1% me.
I’m already thinking about a bigger capacity roaster. I’ll keep the Ikawa since it’s just so portable and clean to quickly use and put away but I made the mistake of offering some samples to friends/family so it would be good to roast a kilo at a time for speed/ease of bigger batches.
I was wondering whether venting one of the 1kg roasters out an open window via ducting/hose is sufficient or whether they need some kind of sealed vent system?
I don’t have a garage/shed so will need to roast in the kitchen still, not sure if that’s even feasible.
