MuddyOne So I’m americano drinker ,I heard that to preserve /maintain espresso machine from scale it is recommended to not use water dispenser but separately use kettle or separate water dispenser. Can someone please confirm this? If so any recommendations or just any kettle? Thanks.
Cuprajake depends on the water you feed your machine, but in general that’s what people say ive had a brewista kettle for a few years, been good, was only cheap too. not the fancy self heat type
MuddyOne Cuprajake Hmm but these are pour over kettles meaning you pay extra here probably. I have another question though, desired brew temperature is roughly 92 degrees. If I boil water separately and then straight add espresso brewed at 92 will that still be a “sin” will that negatively affect taste?
DavecUK MuddyOne I have another question though, desired brew temperature is roughly 92 degrees. If I boil water separately and then straight add espresso brewed at 92 will that still be a “sin” will that negatively affect taste? Just use an ordinary kettle for Americanos, you cannot negatively affect the taste as that can only happen during extraction….not once it’s made.
MuddyOne DavecUK If we are here already I won’t be starting another thread. Can someone please explain me the difference between offset and putting up temperature?
MediumRoastSteam MuddyOne - In real terms, there’s nothing. All the offset does is that it offsets the display temperature by whatever you key’d in. So, as an example, if there’s an offset of +5, then the ACTUAL temperature inside the boiler will by 102C when the DISPLAY temperature will read 97C. If you key’d in an offset of 0, then the display would read 102C and the temperature inside the boiler will be 102C too.
MuddyOne MediumRoastSteam So what is exactly the point? I could understand minus offset in that case- I set brew temp to 95c but I know the final temp in my cup will be 92 so I set offset -3,is that correct? That’s the idea? But setting higher offset? You are not getting jogurt temp in your cup that you have set to brew..,
MediumRoastSteam MuddyOne - the idea is that, in case of a coffee machine, the water coming out from the group loses heat on its way from the boiler.
