Platypus You’re not going to get high extractions at 1:1 ratio. Probably not even with darker roasts. This doesn’t sound feasible.
Nevertheless, deliberately aiming low on extraction can, counter-intuitively, give very pleasant results. Extractions around 11-14% can be sweet, lacking in sharp/tart sourness and lacking in bitterness. You can get the basic notes of the coffee, but you won’t get the clarity & complexity of a more typical range 18-22% extraction.
The difficulty can be getting into the mindset that you are aiming low and not fretting over fast shots, go by ratio, grind setting & taste/texture. If you are getting sharp/tart acidity, go coarser.
This approach is not that uncommon with brewed coffee too, especially with high dosed short steep Aeropress & Clever brews.
