delta76 I believe guideline is 3 months. unlikely to affect taste because the build up inside is the “static”, not “dynamic” ground. also not machine life either. I used the cleaning tablets (Grindz) first before a deep clean. Grindz helps with the oil built up.
JHCCoffee delta76 I used the cleaning tablets (Grindz) first before a deep clean. Grindz helps with the oil built up. @DavecUK I recall Dave advising against using GrindZ, possibly due to potential GrindZ retention end associated taste or grade impacts. Any comments Dave or others?
delta76 JHCCoffee if you only use Grindz, maybe. My point is to use Grindz first , then a deep cleaning. coffee oil build up is quite messy to deal with. grindz helps to ease that. for me at least.
dfk41 delta76 GrindZ in my humble, should not go anywhere near a grinder. Oil residue build up is all part of the process. When you get new burrs, you season them, specifically to knock off any irregularities and to coat the burrs
MediumRoastSteam I can’t see the point in using Grindz on a Niche Zero (or Duo) - as the burrs and chamber are easily accessible and can be easily cleaned.
dndrich I believe the manufacturer recommends against Grindz. The machine is really easy to clean. I clean mine like every 6 months. It is always perfect.

sketchy I’m terribly lazy with my NZ. Using a brush and a blower to do what I can. I will say the magnetic assembly of the Femobook sure makes cleaning a breeze.
drdre89 I give my Niche Duo a general clean after 1kg of beans (when I get new beans). Disassemble and give it a brush and tap the burrs on the kitchen bench with a paper towel catching the grinds.
Pompeyexile Every time I use the Niche I use the baby silicone cough thingy after to blow out any retained grinds which is almost negligable. I take it apart completely a real easy job and clean it once a month regardless of how much I have used it. It may be overkill but if I’m honest I quit enjoy doing it too.
