Same here. As for the login, I didn’t need to. But… all my devices got logged out, and, if I don’t browse the forum every so often (a few hours) it logs me out.

No such a thing as a free lunch as they say. It’s a free product, so we get what we don’t pay for. could be worse though…. So in the grand scheme of things… life goes on… 😊

Something funny is happening because I’m getting the verification messages as well now. And there’s some issues with the forum.

I frequently get a red bar on the bottom that says “oops”. Plus red bars that say “you have to have permission to do thst”. Initially just for deleting my own post; now just randomly.

@DavecUK Might I trouble you to contact Freelarum?

DavecUK The reply so far is.

“I was forced to temporarily strengthen Cloudflare’s global protection, which is probably the result of that. After you confirm that you are not robot by passing the challenge, you will be granted a temporary pass to access the forum. The errors likely happen because the passage granted by Cloudflare has expired. I will raise this threshold so it lasts longer, which should hopefully fix the issue(?)”

Thanks @DavecUK . Just a heads up that I can barely access the Forum from my IPhone and get many errors in trying to do so.

It should be fixed now, the problem has gone away for me. It was set for a cloudflare verification every 30 minutes, now increased to every 8 hours. It was as always due to attacks…makes you wonder why the free hosting site is getting them doesn’t it. Perhaps they have annoyed the paid hosting industry?

          Still happening to me

It seems to vary. Sometimes I can reload the page, based upon the authentication I did a short while ago. Other times even if I authenticate, I get a page error. I then have to close the tab and reenter the site name, reauthenticate and I’m good. There doesn’t seem to be any consistency. Kind of like my decaf espresso. 😁

          Seems to be. Sort-of.

It’s some hours after you posted that, and the message about verifying flashed up very quickly and briefy, then disappeared and I was in to the forum. So far, everything seems to be working and, but for that quick flash of a message, I wouldn’t have noticed any change, if indeed it’s still in place. It certainly isn’t (so far) causing me any issues.

It rather reminds me of the dangers of making pretty much any change to a live system, which is that it often brings out the little quirks that didn’t show up in testing, almost regardless of how much testing you do. However, often, it’s pretty quick to tweak and tune a few things, and end up working as it was supposed to. At least, so far.

Still ‘Verifying if Human’ & Red Bar saying I don’t have permission to do ‘that’. (?)

Just a few things from me:

            • I’m not sure if this verification is global to freeflarum or just happening on our forum.
            • with regards to the post above, the red bar and unauthorised message - one is a consequence of the other: the red bar is shown because the user is not authenticated; once authenticated the message goes away.
            • opening a new tab or re-typing the address does not do anything. The easiest way to re-authenticate is to refresh the page (cmd+R or F5) depending on browser/os; or simply hit return in the address bar - which will trigger another request to the server. Because the forum is a “one page web app” - just using the buttons inside the page, or clicking links will not work.
            • it’s a free service, I understand. They need upgrade infrastructure, I understand. But this is a pain in the neck (first world problems, I know). I access the site across 3 devices through the day. I’m finding myself re-authenticating rather frequently.
