MediumRoastSteam for my view I pretty much agree with what has been said.
800 rpm for actual grinding.
Turn it up to 11 to clear it out and add a puff of the below which I believe clears the declumper
I guess they could have had a button marked clear or turbo and a set grind speed to achieve the same without the variable knob
With the variable speed you have the ability to achieve the same and also have the ability to change the actual grind speed if you feel the urge. Not really an issue if you just want to use it on “slow” and “fast” only.. I guess its also better for the motor in the long term to ramp up slower than a turbo button .
I believe this is far better than my (now sold) original df83. That was better after adding metal declumper and ion kit but overall it was a speed monster and was relatively inconsistent (shot time) I guess due to variable fines.
So far the t64 seems more stable. I only have shot time as a guide as I have no sieve system to comment further or more scientifically….
Overall if I were to be buying this grinder as a stab in the dark first and only grinder for general home use I would be happy with my choice.
Still haven’t had time to do a comparison with the duo. Been away quite a bit recently (due for release soon!!).
My aim is to have the 2 grinders 1 for decaf and 1 for "normal!) as I kept forgetting to adjust when making coffee for me or Jude and the settings required are too far away to get away with it!!
The duo was consistent on either setting after adjustment. No waste coffee required .
Once I plan to do a head to head I will probably go back to the due depending on results but I do not think or expect there will be night and day differences.
