There is a new grinder about to hit the market from Bella Barista the T64, **not to be confused** with the Profitec T64. It's a 64mm flat burr grinder, produced by a Chinese manufacturer, I had a prototype and already a few enhancements have been recommended by me to BB so they can fine tune their offering. **The grinder in the video doesn't have an extra movable zero collar, the revised grinder does,** and it means the zero point can be adjusted should you ever change/use different burrs. The BB grinders will have this as standard. These videos introduce the T64 grinder, it's a nice variable speed flat burr grinder that produces excellent in cup results. Thanks Dave, there is a "BG T64" on YT that may be the same. Looks pretty solid. The video was front August 2023 and it's normally an easy fix for the manufacturer so I'm wondering if you noticed any drift in the unit you have?

I got my unit from BB in January and it was stepped…I (damaged the stepped pin to jam it in, as you can't pull it out), this made it stepless. I did this after realising going in between steps was imprecise, it would possibly "fall off" the steps and move…plus it wasn't mine and would be going back (It actually is being collected by Bella Barista next week). As stepless, it's never moved or drifted at all and the company have been asked to make the BB grinders stepless. Also to add a re-zero ring as they might be factory zeroed, but if people change burrs then the zero may be lost. Also the factories zero might not always bee 100% correct. There is one big difference you perhaps didn't spot…**it's not variable speed**, mine goes from 800-2000 rpm, which is how I can use it to clear grinds without using the bellows. There are some other differences in the video to the unit I have, some small some larger * **The grinder in the video has a 200W motor, my unit has a 300W motor** * Aluminium lid with wood top cover on mine (looks nice, adds a bit of contrast. * The ring that fits on top of the grinds cup has two grippy o rings machines in to it stays in place nicely * The grinder I have it I believe slightly heavier. But they look like they are from the same company and offer the same 3 burr options…obviously I suggested to BB to only use SSP burrs, because they are a known quantity and the quality of construction merits it. *P.S.The Evo portafilter funnel for LSM size portafilter from Norvin (thanks again Norvin), fits a groove in the grind cup perfectly as you saw on the video, making it super easy to use with my 53.5mm portafilters*

How would you compare it to df64 if you have used both? Also any way for non UK customers to buy it without having to ship from BB?

I actually have a DF64 and it in my option the T64 is a much better grinder. and more accurately made. Oh I forgot to mention once it's finished grinding, after 2 minutes it switches off, so they really have thought about the product and the grind cup etc.. I have no idea about availability and retailers world wide, if you are in Europe BB might well ship it?

@"DavecUK"#p63112 - did you manage to find out more about the phenomenon of no static what so ever? Is there anything special? Given high end grinders come with a spray bottle…. This is an achievement in itself, whatever they did!

It's just a nicer grinder to use and especially adjust. The looks of the grinder ittself and accessories like the catch cup etc.. are way better.

Tal It’s been a noticeable upgrade from my old grinder. The espresso I’m getting is fantastic, there is so much more I can taste in it all and it all seems so much more balanced. I was a little annoyed with the new workflow after coming from an OD grinder but given I can now switch between different beans I’m getting over that change.

I find I’m floating around 13 to 17 mark for grinding but maybe I hadn’t put my zero as far down. I’ve found dialling in pretty straightforward. I write the grind setting number on the bag and found it’s very repeatable. I’ve also found the adjustments precise with only half or 1 making the necessary difference to fine tune the shot.

All in all I’m loving the coffee I’m getting out it and the fact I can try new beans and taste the differences. Given the price and the quality, it is a fantastic grinder! Glad I drove the 2.5 hours and went over to BB that day and took the risk to bag one. Fingers crossed it has the longevity in the components!

I believe BB still have 4 of these grinders for sale (except they cannot advertise them). If interested, ring the showroom and ask about the T64 they have under the table!

Thanks for feedback all, it’s defo tempting. I’ve ended up with a EM Specialita alongside my EM Facile (Silent version of Mignon), as I’ve been experimenting with lighter roasts, while my wife likes the med/dark stuff, and these grinders don’t switch back and forth without hassle.

But if I could replace both with a reliable single doser that could be tempting.

I just thought I would add here if anyone has seen my for sale in the classifieds for the t64, I’m not intending to post any negative comments about this grinder either now or after the sale!!

I do tend to buy buy too many things all at the same time, sometimes with the intention of a quick play and sell it on.

Anyone looking for a great grinder or an upgrade from something like a sage or breville smart grinder then this grinder will be night on day different.

Unfortunately I do not have room to use all of the ones I have liked playing with and do not want to just put it back in the box and in the loft!!

I am currently liking the Mazzer Philos but It has to be realised, Differences at this level are personal and definitely not night and day, and let’s not forget double the price 😎

At some point I really do need to leave this forum. Leave the internet. Stop watching reviews and stop watching YouTube videos 😜

Just tried my first shot on 19 which was a bit of a gusher, will have to grind finer next time!

First impressions:

Pros:

It’s more or less the same size as the Niche Zero which I’m pleased about.
The additional funnel is a great idea as the Niche regularly leaves grounds all over the place.
Quieter than the Niche, mostly.
No static at all! 😯

Cons:

Not so sure about the grind cup, just not a patch on the Niche.
No retractable power cable so more cables to hide.
Although quieter than the Niche it makes a bit of a high pitched noise, probably just something to get used to.

It’s good to hear that you are mostly liking it. just one comment about the “noise” you would need to be really comparing it to the niche duo as you are going to get slightly different sound from a flat burr grinder than a conical even though they are not a such touching.

I was a little on the fence with the catch cup and the slight annoyance of having to remove and replace the extender each time to make it fit my portafilter funnel but was not a problem just a niggle 🙃

Hopefully once you have it dialed in you will be loving it as those burrs are super.

Robti As a new owner of the T64, do not adjust grind settings using the numbered scale to turn the throat, Grip above the numbered scale to turn it. That ring with numbers only has a small grubscrew to hold it in position.

I advised @Balance not to fit the collar as zero is perfect on the original markings without it…… maybe when he gets experimental with new burrs, not that that’s required either. ☕☕

This is correct, the grub screw hols the numbered scale in position, but turn it by the scale and the screw will slip!

You should only loosen the grub screw when you adjust the zero (burr touching point)…that’s only when you change the burrs themselves.
