So I’m looking to upgrade from my Gaggia Classic, its served me well over the past 2 years but it seems time to try and up my game.

Opinions on the ECM Puristika? I seen it had an issue earlier on that was resolved.

I make 2-3 coffees a day only for myself, the wife’s tea only, and always black Americano or Espresso.

It’s around the maximum I want to spend at £1300 and will be paired with Eureka Mignon Specialita.

    Mattybar7 - seems like a reasonable choice. But be aware that for less money you can get other machines with similar functionality (apart from being able to set the pressure on the fly, if that’s your thing) for less money, and they would allow you to make a milk drink if you ever need it. E.g.: Lelit Victoria.

    Just take a look at the Bella Barista website for ideas.

        Mattybar7 I have a Puristica, one of the first 3 prototypes back in 2019. It’s a fine machine, nice and temp stable, small footprint, external glass tank. If you don’t need to steam milk, then it’s a great machine, with not much to go wrong. The issue that was resolved was something I bought up in my engineering report to ECM that they missed and allowed into production. This caused the thermosyphon to sometimes not start in the morning (leading to a hot boiler and cool group) unless water was drawn into the group by lifting the lever and running the pump.

        I detailed a fix to them that I had incorporated on other machines I had helped design. This fix was rolled out to dealers/end users and incorporated into all production machines and the problem went away.

                Mattybar7 - you definitely will. Bigger boiler (more temp stable), E61, PID controlled (so you can adjust the temperature easily), no temp surfing, etc, etc.
