The functions of the Osmio have been great for us but it’s the only machine I’ve had. Not bad as I picked it up second hand for £100 8 years ago. As you’ve mentioned, it has always leaked. It got better after I sent it to Osmio for a service but still leaked a bit after.

My main priority is healthy drinking water. We have two young children so the 65 degree baby bottle setting has been amazing. We don’t drink a lot of tea but when I do, I use the Osmio and I fill my Pavoni (yes still using one of those) up with it.

I live In France but back and forth to the uk with work so I can buy in either country. France Waterdrop has the A2G for €459 with another 10% off which just seems a better deal than an Osmio Zero 2.0

I cannot detect any taste difference! SO adding minerals just adds another layer of faff that I dislike. The twin filters are allegedly better at filtering microplastics out but again that is not an issue for me. I simply want RO water to put in my coffee machine. If the A2G is anything like as noisy as my A1 was it will drive you bonkers! Especially if you still need to add ice!

It’s not about taste. It’s about creating a buffer which would avoid the water corroding the boiler.

MediumRoastSteam Absolutely! You were kind enough to send me your recipe for making a solution up with RO water. I did it for a couple of weeks and in one of our daily chats asked what he thought…..and he told me so I stopped! Dave believed in allowing folks to do their own thing, and with all opinions, everyone can be right

dfk41 - Fair enough. It maybe that with RO water from your RO unit there’s enough minerals left which can act as a buffer. I have no idea. With the ZeroWater (rather than WaterDrop or Osmio) the TDS of the resulting water is 0 TDS. So there’s nothing left .

I’m definitely not trying it out :-)

After spending too much time researching this, I decided the Waterdrop A2G was the one only to hit buy it now on their site and for a message to pop up to say it’s out of stock. Apparantly they don’t know when it’s coming back. You think they would highlight out of stock items! Back to the drawing board.

My Waterdrop A2G arrived yesterday. The customer service does seem to be very good. The machine looks smart and I like the pitcher at the front you can just take off to pour water. It’s larger than my old Osmio but that doesn’t bother me.

My initial gripe would be the digital display. The Osmio, you turn a physical dial and push the button, it just works, this you have to mess about with a digital screen which like all other digital screens will crash.

It’s the same with new cars. They go on about how many accidents are caused by drivers on phones. I suspect the number is even higher for drivers trying to figure out how to adjust the cabin temperature or put the radio on. I’m in rental cars a few times a month and more times than not, Apple car play crashes or just isn’t recognised. Start stop buttons! Why??

Totally agree with this. I drive two VWs - one which is 13 years old and another which is 5 years old. The newer one has everything on a screen, on buttons which are not tactile and - lo and behold - not illuminated, by design!!!!!!. Trying to change to a new music album, or just adjusting the car air conditioning system while driving is a hazard. I hope manufacturers in general realise that a digital screen is not the answer for everything - although, these days, a much cheaper option than tactile buttons. The older car is staying with me for a little while I think… LOL!

And for coffee machines - I think Decent has the right idea. Worse case scenario - replace the tablet.

Why a water dispenser needs a digital screen to dispense water is beyond me.

MediumRoastSteam I’m glad I’m not the only one moaning about this. Our family car is a 2016 Golf estate and I think pre 2017 was peak years for cars. New cars don’t drive any better but they’re infuriating to use with everything being on a screen and the endless driver warnings. Hertz last week gave me a free upgrade to a very nice Audi A5 but before every trip I had to go through the control settings to turn off all of the warnings otherwise you go mad with all of the endless beebs.

The lack of thought by car manufacturers to the usability of their all touch-screen interiors to one side (I despise it), we have a waterdrop jug type filter at home and it works very well. The water comes out smelling and tasting so much better than from the tap. It’s essentially unrecognisable as a beverage although, we do live in one of the hardest water areas in the country (St. Albans).

memzey We’ve been using an Osmio Zero for 7+ years and I couldn’t live without one of these now. The Waterdrop so far is great but our favourite thing about it which I didn’t pay much attention to when buying is the pitcher at the front which automatically fills and you can just take jt off to pour water.
