Being an old fuddy duddy, I recently bought a sim card for my old old Nokia 6310i just to see if it worked, and it did. Now, when it runs out after 30 days I want to find a flexible option. I do not need data. I do not want a recurring contract. I just want to be able to use the phone if I want to. 1p Mobile do a sim that costs £10 and lasts for 120 days. That is bearable I guess! Does anyone know of anything better than that please? I know you can get legacy sims on Ebay but I do not really want to go down that route
Mobile phone contracts
Giff gaff credit won’t expire as long as you make one chargeable transaction every 6 months and that single transaction could just be a text message.
EddieMoonshine But do Giffgaff do one off charge to your card as when I looked everything was monthly contract?
I found this on Ebay….I think it ticks most of my boxes
dfk41 pay as you go mate. The sim should be free in most newsagents. I stuck with pay as you go for my main phone. Tenner a month covers all data text and calls for me. I don’t have many friends 😂🙈
Giffgaff (O2 network) is great, you can buy a 1 month bundle of your choice, you can choose, or not, to have that bundle reoccur. So you can treat it like a contract if you want to, or you can cancel it at will if you do not.
Also as above, you can buy credit, and use that as you wish also.
I was with giffgaff for around 8years and only changed to smarty (3 network) recently due to O2 signal issues currently in my area. But they are a similar outfit.

I use Smarty Mobile £5 per month, 4g data unlimited text and calls, plus free roaming all over europe…with same. Great when I go to Italy.
DavecUK great deal that.
Both my partner and I are with EE. But recently she had an email telling her that her £10 per month deal with 2 gig of data to a 30-day rolling contract with 5 gig of data for £15. She has an iPhone 11 and I have an old iPhone 8 and I am on £9 per month with a gig. We certainly do not need the extra data.
So, she rang them and threatened to leave and lo and behold they reduced it to £12 per month but gave her 10gig of data.
Mine is due to end in October, so I will be ringing them too. Or I might go to pay as you go SIM as I just do not use my phone enough.

Smarty seems to be an infinitely better deal for you 4gb data, unlimited texts and calls, free EU roaming, I pay £5 a month. Your paying £25 per month, where you could be paying for this, a better deal than mine! Use my referral link below and we both benefit in a £20 gift card valid in amazon and other places. "Love being a SMARTY customer? Refer a friend and if they join, you’ll both get up to £20 in gift cards. Plus, you can refer as many friends as you want.

here’s another option - just got this in the post today for my mum
also, have higher data allowances, if wanted
Which network are they with? We are with EE. My other half’s sister is with Vodafone and her coverage where she lives is rubbish, and we need to make sure we are able to contact her as she looks after my 89-year-old father-in-law.
My wife and I are with EE. We were paying about £15 per month each for phones with 5g data and about £50 for 4G broadband with 300g. We have 4G internet as it’s the best reception we can get in the countryside.
I phoned them up looking for a deal and got the 2 phones for £20 a month with 30g data and unlimited data internet for £19 a month.
So down from £80 a month to £39 with a phone call.
I recently signed up for Lebara for £1.25 50gb data and unlimited everything else including Europe and India roaming. It’s £1.25 for 7 months then usual price of £9 for the rest.
Inspector I have been with Lebara a few months now and next to Giffgaff find them very easy to live with….and good value
