ChristosC I am getting pretty wild variations in the required settings after each calibration.
I recalibrated my Niche today (after my wife moved the bottom ring with the calibration dot🙄) and settled at a setting of 37 to properly extract my beans (compared to the previous setting of 28). Probably because I tightened the adjustment ring more than I ususally do…
Heres a huge tip:
Once you have calibrated your Niche you never have to calibrate it again, unless, you accidentally move the black ring with the grind setting pointer, as your wife did when the hopper is unscrewed from the grinder.
The calibration point is materially and significantly affected by how hard you tighten the hopper and can vary as much as 10 marks from person to person depending on feel. A 90 year old will no doubt end up with a completely separate grind setting than a bodybuilder. I think I have this the right way round.
Granny = grinding a Brazilian on 22
Bodybuilder. = grinding a Brazilian on 12
I don’t understand why many people actually recalibrate the grinder after they clean it (not suggesting you do).
