soooo…. ive run a mazzer super jolly for years now, single sweeper mod, silicone bellows aftermarket upgrade, stock burrs and its a beast. I find it produces good espresso, is reliable, find the adjustment dial consistent, retention isn’t too bad if i get the initial bean weight right, hopper channel on top is wide enough to add a weight on your beans if not using with a hopper though i dont find i need to… i could go on, a great grinder…good coffee
Ive recently got my hands on an excellent condition Mahlkonig K30 Vario…. loads of hype available on this grinder… probably considered a step up from the mazzer and the used price reflects that! Been using it for about three weeks, can i taste the difference, i dont think i can…. ? honestly find that auto timed grind/dosing a little bit faffy as i cant weigh the beans down as im not storing them in the hopper (Im using for single dose) and the hopper channel prevents it… this means its not consistent… im probably purging more than i was/am with the super jolly…
so im struggling to say no to the chance of buying a fantastic condition vario that i know the history of for a good price even if i im finding it a little challenging to dial in and setup… so what do you know? am i missing something with the vario??? any vario owners with some secrets or if not spending about £500 quid on a vario what grinder would you spend it on for domestic use ⅔ drinks a day, single dosing (usually light roast) espresso and long black predominantly… the odd milk based drink if im feeling wild…
Lets hear those suggestions please!
