Airscape containers

I use them for half a year now and it appears they do the job as advertised.

I’ve been using 2×250g and need to buy another one since I started buying larger bags, and realised something. Fresh beans wants obviously to degass and I definitely notice difference after about two weeks, but putting fresh beans into airscape will drastically slow down degassing. I’ve been putting half of 1kg bag to the containers, beans left in the bag were “ ready” much sooner.

Do you put your beans straight to airscspe , those who are using them or let them degass first after you receive them?

I tend to let them degass in the bag, I don’t know why but have always done this, it seems the best environment to let them rest? On the rare occasion I do buy 500g then once rested I would decant 350g into the larger airscape canister but decant say 150g into the smaller one so that I am not constantly opening the larger one and introducing air if that makes any sense. Once I’ve used up the 150g I pour in another 150 so in effect only opening the larger airscape up X 4. Whether this does extend the life of the beans I have no idea but it just seems to make sense.

I generally buy kilo bags and decant most of it into the airscape immediately. It takes about a month to degas!
