Can anyone help an old duffer. I do not have FB on my phone. I access it through Chrome on my Macbook. Recently FB have scoured my messages in Messenger and decided to add anyone that I had messaged to my Contacts list that sits down the right margin. I do not want a long list of contacts that I do not contact. I am not interested in building up a network of Facebook "friends’ either.

This is annoying me more and more! Does anayone actually know the answer?

Sorry, I don’'t have a full answer, however Safari is much more privacy focused than Chrome, and as you have a Mac you could use it. I’m on FB solely to send birthday greetings, so several times monthly, and have not had any such invasiveness. However, I do get warning messages from FB that “this browser is not supported” (latest Safari btw) although it is doing everything I need it to but clearly not everything they want it to ;-) If you do not receive a full answer here try Reddit which will certainly provide one.

PS We here are either all old duffers or old-duffers-in-training I think ;-)

So this is from chrome on windows pc but hopefully it will be similar

If you click the three little dots to the right of where it says contacts there is an options panel which includes a slider for “show contacts”

You could try using the block settings on the same options tab.

Its not something I have ever done

My contacts list is just people I am friends with on facebook anyway and to be honest I dont really notice it.
