I am sure there are many of you out there who have bathroom cabinets or dressing tables loaded with tubes of creams for hands, faces, bodies or feet that their other halves (and if we are honest some of us too) accumulate to help in the war against old father time and the same thing that happens with a hung piece of beef… the drying out process.
They use it until they think they have shaken and squeezed the last drop out and discard the tube in the appropriate way. But then I saw this hack which I have been using for years now and is a great one for all of us penny pinchers out there, but more importantly, ensures you get your monies worth out of the extortionate price you have to pay for the potions and balms that ‘claim’ to hold back the ravages of time.
It’s empty Paul…throw it away!
Or is it? Where are those scissors?
Aha! Not so fast! A quick snip and there is still plenty in the cap end half around the edges and further down near the hole, and as you can see in the cut-off bottom end plenty there too. So, a simple scoop out with my finger, and scrape on the edge of the cut top half, then a rinse under the tap of the cut-off bottom half…
Push the clean bottom part back on and down as far as it will go so you have a stumpy tube, and she can now easily pull it off and get her dainty little digits in where there is still enough for quite a few more applications.
Literally a five-minute job.
