Hello All,

Finally plucked up the courage to attempt the shower screen/group head seal replacement. Watching Stefanos relevant videos I removed the GH, and the symphony tube in case it got a whack. Got the seal out, then the troubles began:

Attempted to screw the syphon tube back in when it snapped at the end of the thread! I’ve had this EP about 12 months and have replaced the tube at some point so I was somewhat disappointed that this had happened.

Couldn’t get the shower screen and seal to stay in the GH even after using the naked PF as per YT video.

Bits on order, so that’s me practicing cafetière coffee for a few days…

Regards,

Michael.

I’m surprised the tube snapped so prematurely on a machine that’s approx. 1y old! In any case… When I first read this post I was like… “Symphony tube? What on earth is that?” Then I realised it was just an auto-correction feature for syphon. Good luck!

Hi, Symphony tube! Yes I know, even though I’d supposedly written symphonic and selected it..! As for said symphony tube, annoying when I’d removed it in the first place to prevent it getting damaged while fiddling with the GH! Maybe the problem is with the ‘thing’ it screws into. I’ll find out when it arrives.

BTW, the tube is less than 12 months old ( I bought the EP December 23 )the EP is a 2015 model. But even so very surprising it snapped given that it’s been screwed in once and unscrewed once. 🤷‍♂️

DavecUK changed the title to La Pavoni EP syphon tube snapped. .

MAXTHEDOG At least the tube is cheap….when you replace it, use a dab of Molycote or similar food safe silicon grease and a few wraps of PTFE tape on the thread. This might help prevent difficulties in future.

Thanks for your reply Dave. I’m wondering now if it was cracked at the point where the thread ends as I’d just got the thread started when it snapped, no warning at all. But yes they are cheap hopefully the replacement will last longer. But once all the GH deals are changed I won’t need access for a while.

    Regards,

    Michael.
