Please excuse the confusion. Let me list everything again chronologically, what the problem has been so far and what I have already done to solve the problem:
At the very beginning, the machine gurgled hot water into the water tank.
I then replaced the safety valve (number 1).
Up to this point, I hadn’t had any problems with water not getting into the steam boiler.
After I had replaced the safety valve and reassembled the machine, the problem with error number 3 appeared on the display.
Then I checked the water level sensor. This was OK.
Then I disconnected the inlet to the steam boiler to see if there really was no water coming into the steam boiler when I switched it on. This was the case indeed.
Then I disconnected the inlet from the solenoid valve (number 2) to see if the water was at least still coming in there and it was the case indeed. I therefore concluded that the solenoid valve (number 2) must be defective.
I ordered a new one and installed it. Unfortunately, the problem persisted.
When I switched the machine on, it pumped for a while and then displayed error 3.
I then tried this reset (press the + button when switching on). The result was that since then the pump has run continuously (even for longer than 2 or 3 minutes) without showing an error on the display.
You replaced one of the two solenoid valves, which one, when and why?
I have replaced the solenoid valve which is connected to the steam boiler. I thought this would help me if water was coming up to the valve but not out of it. There is a small 1 on one side of the valve and a small 2 on the other. Number 2 is connected to the steam boiler and the water arrives at number 1. i replaced it after getting error 3 after replacing the safety valve.
You also replaced a safety valve, was this after the solenoid valve?
Before I replaced the solenoid valve.
You now say the “hot” water leaking was from the expansion valve as identified in my photo (let’s not call it the OPV) and not the safety valve?
No, I meant that the water does not currently enter the steam boiler and is instead fed back into the water tank through the expansion valve.
The safety valve on the steam boiler with a tube on it was not leaking and never has?
No leaking at all.
What voltage is written on the side of the solenoid valves coil units, what voltage was listed on the side of the solenoid valve you replaced?
Both say 220/230 Vac
- Is there anything else you forgot to mention?
When replacing the safety valve, I removed two more hoses (number 3) as they were very full of lime. I cleaned and replaced them. Nothing else.
