I’m sure I read somewhere on the forum about running longer shots, 1:4 or greater.
I had my usual 1:2 espresso shot topped up with about 100ml of hot water for an Americano, and it was nice.
I then remembered the longer ratio thread so ground my next shot a fair bit coarser and ran it through for a 1:6 shot, giving me the same overall size of drink as my usual.
I was expecting it to taste pretty bad but to my complete surprise it was very good, certainly as good as my previous Americano if not better. I’m going to be giving this ratio and grind coarseness a dabble over the next few days.
I’m wondering if my taste buds are just completely shot and I should actually be drinking Nescafé 😳
