The elbow has two flats on it for removal, use a very good fitting spanner. the elbows are nickel plated brass, not stainless, so you can distort or break them. Clean the threads and refit using PTFE tape so it feels tight all the way in. When almost all the way in, line it up with the pipe, don’t screw it all the way down.
