Well, I sorted out all of the issues that I had from day one. The burrs are clean as are the grind chambers. A new clump crusher fitted. Today I decided to throw some beans in and try it. To all of us who have bought single dosing grinders, the idea of a hopper fed system is a culture shock. On removing the top burrs (I did not weigh it) I would imagine that there was 1 to 2 gms of grind that will exchange. Is that a problem? Not to me. That is how things used to be and 10 years ago no one complained about it. After grinding a couple of shots worth I started to adjust grind setting and timer setting. Eventually I got an output of nearly 17 gms and the timer set to 3.45 seconds.

Tomorrow I will continue tweaking and might make a short video. I find it so incredibly easy to stick some beans into the hopper, turn up, insert the pf handle and find a nice fluffy mound in the pf a few seconds later. The clump crusher has stopped the grinds from spraying everywhere. All in all, life is good!

Lovely mate, glad you got there in the end. Haven’t used my DF64 since I refurbished the Mythos. It’s just soooooooo much easier. 👌👌👌

Good job, you’ve had me looking about for a Mythos. There’s a Mythos 2 in my town of all places.

What sort of retention do these hold onto? Do the fans run when in standby mode?

Tal The Mythos 2 is the latest variant. I have not had one but I believe the fans start as soon as you turn them on. Whether or not you can geet around this or not I have no idea. The version I have spins at 1350 rpm whereas I think the 2 is 800. They are commercial machines so do retain some grinds. When I took my top burrs off, this is a bad picture. The was not a lot of coffee in the bottom burr but there was a bit around the exit chute. This may have been because my clump crusher was not working properly and the grinder had stood for 3 years. In a couple of weeks time I will take the top burr out again and have a look.

My son came around and I learned something invaluable! When you put the phone into video recording mode, there is a pause button! I never knew that! So, anyway, this is the unedited but paused a few times video! I had not realised that I had very few beans in the hopper so the grind fineness was slightly out, but you get the general idea!

I was looking through some old videos and came accross this clip. This is the Mythos Clima pro or the newer version. Built for cafes it has a fan that comes on when you power it ip to help cool the grinder down in a busy environment. The spin speed is reduced from 1350 rpm to 800 so it does take longer to grind. But, what a lovely mound!
