Yeah I’d agree it’s probably dependent.
I’ve never had to go below ‘12’ on the Philos and true zero is somewhere beyond zero on mine.
The motor is also ridiculously torquey though and it’s marketed as commercial so it seems unlikely to be at risk.
I know some people have cold started green beans on the Niche Duo so that seems fairly robust too.
Given most of the popular burrs these days started life as commercial burrs I’d say any increase in wear from lighter roasts would be minimal.
