I notice that ECM have a new machine; the Technika VI. It looks brilliant. Other than the size of the boiler and tank I can’t see significant differences between them. And, when I compare to the Profitic Drive, other than the preinfusion lever and guage (profiling) and tank sizes, again the difference is not that clear to me.

Has anyone, with an ECM/Profitic lust like mine? If so, perhaps you have more insight into the fundamental differences between these lovely machines?

Thanks :-)

The Technika (edit: but not the VI) is an e61 heat exchanger machine. The synchronika is a dual boiler, e61, top of the range. The Profitec Drive is a less refined synchronika, but with the exact same internals, and it’s the top of the range model for Profitec - but for all intents and purposes they are very much the same.

There’s a massive difference between Heat Exchanger machines and Dual Boiler machines in how they work. I’d recommend you do your research, it’s well documented here and elsewhere… and then take a look at the ECM Mechania Max. 😊

Edit: ignore me. Looks like I haven’t done my homework. The Technika VI is actually a dual boiler, unlike the other machines in that range!

Edit 2: the Technika VI seems to be a compact version of the Syncrhonika with smaller boilers.

Edit 3: looks like one of the key features is simultaneous boiler heating - something the synchronika and Drive (when it was Pro 700) used to have in the past. I can’t find the specs, but maybe they reduced the power of the heating elements hence the smaller boilers?

Also it doesn’t seem to have electric heated group like the synchronika II.

Thanks @MediumRoastSteam, I appreciate your feedback to my question.

It was because I say the Technika was a dual boiler and had a rotary pump that prompted my question about how it compares with the Synchronika. They look very very similar to me. I do like the blue guages on the VI.

And, thanks too for the info on the Drive, that’s good information to have
