SteveBRS many thanks for the links. I have used Francesco’s site on many occasions for my Arrarex Caravels so will head over and have a look at his la Pav section. Espresso Solutions did the following:
full service
internal piston sleeve
new element
pressure switch 0.5 - 1.2 bar
brass boiler to base ring
lever safety valve with anti vac
They also replaced various nuts, pins, grommets etc. The cost was originally quoted circa £170 but once there and on the bench there were a few more things to do so it went north of £200. But, all in all I am quite happy. I did not pay much for it so could still make a profit if I wanted, or keep a totally overhauled machine. I may or may not sort the drip tray out but since It is not visible so what?
I had to watch a couple of videos to remind me how to pull a shot. I ground 15 grams of beans and that seemed the right am ought for the double basket (I have 3 in total) that I used. Mine has a gauge on the left side and I have no idea what it read. I left it for 10 mins or so to warm up. The group was hot but I could still touch it without burning. I gave about 8 seconds to pre infuse having left the grind setting on my Niche at the same level for the beans I am using with the Evo. It seemed about right. I might leave the Evo turned off for a couple days and become better acquainted! Not the most powerful steamer but I managed a respectable amount of milk to go on top of the one and only shot that I pulled!
