Last year, the announced expected price was 1000 GBP (probably + VAT).

Argos is still being offered at 850 USD. Vectis can and will be more expensive, but probably not that much. 1500 GBP will too close to L Compressa. But we will see.

id say rightly so as the argos needs to be good value as its stand alone and a new company, the pandemic may have priced the vectus out the market, due to where it will sit, you'd have to be a lever nut or ££££ to buy it over something like a bianca

Perhaps he is aiming for the potential Cremina market? If he is, I think that's a tough nut to crack. I do agree that you would have to be a lever nut, or really, really want one.

All we have heard to date is promises and broken time tables all laced with the usual sprinklings of fairy dust. The Evo went from an idea we chatted about to production in 10 months, so what makes the little diddly so different. Personally, I would be surprised to see it surface anytime soon with the Argos looming, but what do I know.

Interesting video… A few observations:

Good safety feature on the boiler filling mechanism, as it leaves no margin for user error (think: La Pavoni and opening the boiler cap under pressure! Ouch!) - Of course, as demonstrated and expected, you can’t fill the machine if the boiler is pressurised.
Disappointed in a way to see the boiler without any insulation what so ever, with wires and connectors very near it. Hopefully the final version will have an insulated boiler.
Steam wand looks box standard. Would have liked to see a “no-burn” version.
Looks like the machine will need a cooling flush if left idling, but then, what temperature will that be since the water inside the boiler and subsequently going through the group is actually at steam temperature? Will it therefore overheat similar to a Pavoni? When the demonstrator pulled a shot, there was a lot of steam coming out of the spouts!
Would love to see some tests of shot temperatures for different scenarios (e.g: first shot of the day and subsequent one, shot temp after machine has been idling, etc, etc…)
Nice to see the machine finally coming together after so many years.

Seems like Jake has picked up on it first reading his comments on Instagram. Having owned a couple of Pavoni before, you will get used to the fact that the machine does not cool with a flush - it actually warms up, because, as you say, it’s a dipper and the water is at steam temperature - unlike HX machines which draw water from the tank at room temperature or mains at mains temperature. So yeah, I would be interested in knowing how the machine will managed that. For me at least would be a “no-no” if you have to take all sorts of measurements or time exactly so the group is at the right temperature before pulling a shot.

Well well, if you were not on his Xmas card list before Jake, you certainly will not be now! It is very telling that he felt the need to say those things to you, then when someone points out just how bad he looks in others eyes, he deletes them…….too late though……LOL
The reason Londiddly do not insulate boilers is because Fracino do not insulate boilers. You can call the Vectis what you want, but it is built by Fracino using many standard parts alongside others. Not quite sure how it oozes quality when we know its pedigree. I do not think you or I are missing much by being barred from dialogue. The Londiddly way will be to replicate what they have always done in the past with product launches. Bring it to the market after extensive testing by their so called experts, probably for 2 weeks. Then taking pre-orders and selling them and dealing with any issues that arise along the way. Absolutely brilliant! The influencers do their job and persuade folks to buy but it is much farther down the line that something akin to the finished product appears.

When Reiss launched the LI, he had harsh words for dipper levers regarding their weakness vis a vis temp instability and how the LI’s thermosyphon was the way forward. Funny, he’s using a dipper on the Vectis.

Astounded that Reiss (or should I call him Gunson) dragged my name into things on a public platform, with an untrue narrative! That’s inappropriate behaviour by anyone’s standards and shows the type of person he is.

I have screenshots of him badmouthing a competitor and my biggest surprise is that anyone ever buys one of the vastly overpriced, and very basic Londiniums, in light of his behaviour.

There’s another significant competitor in the lever market coming next year. I helped them with the design of the new model for completely free. I now realise how sweet it’s going to be to see it enter the market and compete with the overpriced Londinium. In light of Gunsons recent comments, I’ll be pushing even harder for it to come out and be successful.

P.S I say overpriced Londinium, because I know what components cost and can estimate the build cost, which is way less than an Evo. Paolo uses both types of group and the 58mm style is significantly cheaper than the LSM style used in the Evo.

P.P.S. One of the reasons I did the work for ACS to create the Evo with the Vostok technology, was because one of Gunsons minions royally pissed me off.

From the vids the second revised version is currently with franchino, so will need to be shipped out to reiss for testing, once happy a few more made sent out for real world testing and then if happy made and sold to the public.
