Crimbo brought me a Sage DB which was a big step up from my old Gaggia. The first shot I pulled I’m sure ramped up to 9bar, but in my excitement I could have been wrong. Since then I’ve been monitoring it and it is now always reaching 10 bar… So. I was wrong.

I have seen several YouTube vids on how to adjust the OPV valve and although it looks quite simple, I am very nervous about attempting it, if only because A) It is a brand new machine and they aint cheap…B) last time I took a machine apart to alter something, I ended up like this…

So, for the sake of 1 bar, will it make a really big difference?…please don’t shout at me.

if its brand new and in warranty then id shy away from doing it, purely from a point of view of it going faulty and then not honoring int

Brand new, never been opened but no warranty, as I got it off a chap on Ebay as an unwanted gift and he didn’t have the original receipt, so I couldn’t register it. So, no two year warranty. I know I took a chance on it not going wrong in the first two years, but it was a bargain I couldn’t turn down.

oh in that case butcher away haha

will yours do the slayer mod?

dfk41 I had a few of these. There is a way of going into the advanced menu and adjusting things. I will see if I can find the thread. The engineer from Coffee Classics said it was ok to do as it was a nature of the machine. Give me 10 mins

Cheers matey! I did go in and adjust the pre-infusion pressure and time but didn’t know I could adjust the main pressure without breaking open the machine and fiddling about inside.

Thanks dfk41. I almost did what he said but I didn’t go straight for the 50 second pre infusion more like 20 and it has certainly made a difference. I’ll keep playing around with that and see where it takes me.
