I just pulled amazing shot , like 99% sweetness.

I reduced flow control from 1 ¼ turn to ¾ ( they say this imitates vibration pump) the pressure was slower to build up on flow control gauge , I was still getting some channeling lol probably due to my puck prep, but shot was still amazing, best one I got on drive no bitterness whatsoever, shot pulled bit fast though.

Same beans and temperature

Why can’t I get good results on 1 ¼ turn ( which should work as rotary pump ) by adjusting grind .

Unless I’m turning flow control too much to 1 ¼ but that’s what they recommend

I think you’ve answered your own question!

I’d argue it didn’t pull fast, It didn’t channel and you don’t need 1 ¼ turn on the flow control….

Sounds like a coarse grind (which results in spraying. It isn’t likely channeling) and low flow has resulted in a god shot for that coffee. I’d pursue those variables rather than wondering why the previous variables didn’t taste the same.

Why do you want to imitata a vibratory pump , which you sre not doing anyway?

Obviously it will as you vave limited the flow and you need flow to build pressure through a porous plug (coffee puck) .

And to be pedantic its not a flow control gauge its a pressure gauge showing the pressure of the water in the system at the bleed off point.

Anyway, flow control kit is a total waste of time, effort and money. Hopefully the guy who purchased mine didn’t agree, or did and also dold it on!

I use flow control for all my shots with great results. Especially for light roasts. What was the pressure at the higher flow rate? On the Bianca, I find that the best results are with the paddle at a water debit position of 3 ml/sec resulting in a pressure of 6-7 bar (with a 5-10 sec preinfusion at 2 bar)
